Reawakening

I have been away from Funchain for quite a while, it took me a proactive registration applicant to point out to me that the validation e-mail is broken. No wonder there haven't been any new registrants.

It has been fixed now and Funchain has sent its validation e-mail to the many applicants in the queue. I hope they haven't forgotten Funchain.

I am also considering handing Funchain over to more capable hands. I hope he says yes to this offer.

Stay tuned!

Nasty Virus / Hack

I just would like to share that Funchain has been a victim of a nasty virus / hack for the past one week or so, which prevented us from logging into the server.

The server has been fixed and protected now. I look forward to seeing more updates from your blogs soon. :)

Let's See the Sploggers Beat This One

Looks like they found a way to include the Captcha in their program. I modified it a bit by adding a secret code when calling the image. This way, only Funchain can call the Captcha program.

Attacked by Spammers

Mood: pissed off

I apologize if the recent spam attack has offended Funchain users. Funchain has attracted the interest of splog (spam-blog) workers who created auto-login / auto-posting script for the site. I have deleted these blogs, entries and users, and installed a "Captcha" at the login box. A captcha is a program that shows an image that only a human can read, defeating any automated way to get into the site and mess it up. I apologize if this has caused inconveniences on your part when logging in. Unfortunately this is the simplest way right now to protect the site from the sploggers.

Transitioning with a New Partner

Hello guys. Sorry for the outage yesterday. I hope it didn't cause too much distress from you or your blog readers.

Yesterday was the final transition as Funchain welcomes a new partner, Bitstop Network Services! Bitstop Network Services is also the host behind ERadioPortal, Philippines' top online radio network.

If you haven't noticed, there is a marked improvement in performance. The site, and your blogs, load a bit faster now.

Thanks again for all your support!

Sorry for the Outages

Funchain has been moving servers. Sorry for the occassional outages in the publishing access or downtimes.

The recent problem is the rejection of posts that have apostrophes. We are working on fixing this. In the meantime, in case you find yourself having difficulty posting new entries, please take out the apostrophes.

My apologies.

Guide to Creating Academic Blogs

In an effort to promote the use of Funchain in schools and universities, I created this guide to creating academic blogs.

The idea is to make it easier for professors to encourage their students to create their first blogs on Funchain, and, hopefully, take full advantage of the free resource to share their knowledge and be more networked.

The guide is downloadable here. Feel free to use it and distribute to your friends, colleagues and teachers. Blogging is a fun and rewarding activity for everyone, and this guide hopes to make it even easier to set up and start blogging.

Profile Form for Artists/Bands

Mood: content

The use of bands / artists of MySpace in its early days brought a crowd of drawers to the site.

Emulating this successful strategy, Funchain now has a band/artist profile form to allow musicians to put in relevant information in to their space.
